rober-mcelroyThis 2,100sf home was designed  and built in 1968 by Robert McElroy.  McElroy built many similar modern homes in the Philadelphia area from the 1950’s through 1970’s.  The homes feature open plans and many, like this one, were set into hilly sites.  McElroy homes take advantage of natural surroundings through the abundant use of floor-to-ceiling glass. Owners Robert and Tami Jamieson discovered the home in 2009 after a fruitless search for a loft renovation project in the city. Robert, owner of architecture and design firm Studio Robert Jamieson, and Tami, a Concept Director at Anthropologie, were drawn to the scale and layout.  The pair have carefully updated the suburban home by renovating the kitchen and bathrooms and modernizing other key components to support the existing character.
